Chapter 3.10 – Recalling a Little (1)

「I thought my mother had disappeared.」

So, I thought I would probably never see her in the future.

However, my mother is alive and well in this world and in fact, she is a native of this world and she’s already on her way to meet me—

The fact that I was informed of this was a surprise to me. However, somewhere in the back of my mind, I was also convinced. To begin with, the relationship between me and Karen is a bit strange.

I(and Chocola) have been teleported to another world with this house. There is no doubt about that. And yet, Karen, a native of this world, is an old acquaintance of mine.

What does that mean?

What happened to me in the past? How did Karen and I meet? What happened between my mother and my father?

I tried to remember but I can’t.

So far—I remember things bit by bit since I came to this world but I just can’t seem to recall. I can’t seem to recall the fragments of memories as I like it.

「Don’t force yourself.」

Karen moves to stand next to me.

「As I said earlier, your memories should come back naturally. If you force yourself to dive for something that is sinking to the bottom of the swamp, you will only drown. You just have to wait for it to float to the surface. When it floats out, fish it out, and you’ll be fine.」

「Is……that so?」

「Hmm, what you need to do now is to calm down. Leave the rest to the triggers. When you saw me, Sui remembered a little. Seeing Viole-sama will surely remind you more.」

「But it’s really just a little. I still don’t know much about you.」

「It’s alright. There is no doubt that your magic organ is undergoing the resuscitation phase. It will heal by itself sooner or later.」

「That magic organ thingy, what is it? Also, what do you mean by resuscitation phase?」

Earlier, I couldn’t understand a thing she’s saying given there were too many unfamiliar words but now, there are only two so I may as well ask.

「A magic organ is an invisible organ used to exercise spells. Everyone in this world has it. Sui is in the middle of resuscitation phase……and of course, so does Chocola.」

「Bark?」

Chocola made a confused bark on my behalf as he is being petted,

「In other words, Sui and Chocola are in the process of reawakening your magic.」

「Magic…..you mean sorcery?」

Karen continued.

「Hmm, a solid proof is that you were able to defeat a mutant.」

「……this magic you are talking about, what exactly is it?」

「After coming here, strange things should have happened around Sui and those were probably result of magic. What kind of things have you experience?」

As if recalling them, I told her one by one.

「Both Chocola and I have improved in terms of physical abilities. Chocola was able to decapitate a dragon and my muscular strength and reaction improved significantly.」

「That is body strengthening. If magic power is circulating in your body, it will show an effect subconsciously. If you practice it consciously, you can further enhance the effect.」

「Also, that shock bear-san…..ah, no, when we were fighting against that bear like monsters, there was a black haze like fog that appeared on my sword. When I used it on the monster, the monster’s movement slowed down a lot. Chocola jumped, then lit up and after that, it just went kaboom」

「That’s attribute magic. Each person has his own magic color and magic complies with that color. Magic color is often the same as eye color.」

Eyes—mine are just your average Japanese eyes.

「Sui’s attribute is darkness and Chocola’s attribute is light.」

「Dark……darkness? Darkness of darkness?」

「Hmm, darkness attribute is rare. It is said to be the ultimate of magic because when you put all attributes together, you will end up with darkness.」

「Is that amazing?」

「It’s amazing」

「I guess it’s amazing」

……well, I’m relieved it’s not a curse power or sign of being evil or anything like that.

「Then, what about Chocola’s light?」

「Light is a guide, it shines on everything, the beginning of magic, the core of magic. It is an attribute that no person can possess. Chocola is very amazing.」

「Barkk!」

The master is darkness and the dog is light……isn’t it usually the other way around?

Like the hero of light being followed by a dark watchdog……

「Kwuunn?」

「No, I’m convinced. My dog is the best!」

「Barkk!」

I petted him.

In fact, Chocola is my light. For me—because of him, I was able to continue on living after father died and didn’t have to be at a loss when we were teleported in this world.
