Chapter 21.3

-Sistina’s POV-

The day after I decided to join the agency.

I walked down the corridor of the agency, accompanied by my manager.

Apparently, he was going to introduce me to the agency’s president.

「It’s rare for a newcomer to be recommended directly to the president. It caught me off guard.」

My manager said in his resonant, gravelly voice. His suit strained against his ample belly, and he didn’t bother looking back as he followed a few steps behind me.

Despite appearing to be in his early thirties, the breadth of his build, the white hair covering half his head, and the pronounced dark circles made him seem older.

Yet, he never lost his smile—perhaps because he genuinely loved this job.

He claimed not to have been home for days; I wondered what his wife thought…

-0-

In the president’s office sat a man with fiery red hair slicked back.

According to my manager, he should be around fifty, but he looked fifteen years younger than that.

The president, seated deeply in his leather chair, murmured, ‘Hee…; as he glanced at me.

What had surprised him?

「Come on, introduce yourself.」

My manager urged me to do so, so I offered a simple self-introduction.

「I am Sistina. Nice to meet you.」

「………… Is that all!? Meeting the president directly doesn’t happen often, so make an impression! Amp it up!」

「Well, um… My special skills are multilingual and swordsmanship.」

I felt bad for my manager, but self-promotion during moments like this was a mystery to me.

「Swordsmanship…..? We already have famous individuals for that genre, do we really need another one?」

「No, I’m really good at it.」

「Hmm…?」

While my manager and the president exchanged words, the president gazed at me with a smile. Something about that smile felt insincere.

「Hey, you’re in charge of our exclusive sponsorship movie premiering at the end of next month, right?」

「Yes, President. What about it?」

The president suddenly shifted to an unrelated topic.

It was fine, but…

「That works out perfectly. Add a 5-minute short film to the screening.」

「Starting now!? U-understood. Coordinating with all the parties involved will be challenging, but I’ll make it happen!」

「Good, good.」

It seemed light-hearted, but wasn’t this an incredibly demanding task?

「Now, who’ll direct this short film? Depending on their name value, we might need to adjust the promotion—」

「We’re shooting it right now.」

「Huh?」

「Sistina will be the lead, and we’re starting immediately.」

「What?! Me as the lead!?」

Why was he suddenly saying this?

「Starting now… It’s impossible!」

「Gather the necessary people.」

「But…!」

「But?」

「No! Please let her do it!」

My manager’s response earned an approving nod from the president, who made a dismissive gesture.

As my manager left the president’s office, he was still excited, exclaiming, ‘This is unprecedented! A major opportunity! My instincts were right!’ Even though I wasn’t famous yet.

I understood that this must be a big deal.

But why?

Was it just a whim?

Or perhaps there was a deeper reason behind it.
