Before embarking on the task of improving the Knight Order’s cafeteria cuisine, we decided to start with something equally crucial: organizing the kitchen.
It was meant to be the place responsible for nourishing the stomachs of the knights who defended the country, yet it seemed woefully neglected—almost as if tidiness had taken a permanent vacation.
Given that this was where we handled ingredients that demanded rigorous hygiene, maintaining order was paramount.
In that regard, Hugo-san’s kitchen was impeccable.
We divided our efforts and began cleaning and rearranging the kitchen.
But then, out of nowhere:
「Hey! What are you all doing without permission?」
An angry shout echoed through the room.
Startled, I turned around to find a burly man who could give Gregory-san a run for his money.
Judging by his rough appearance, he might as well have been a bandit.
「Please calm down, Frank-san!」
「Enough! Let me go! I’m the head chef here! What are you doing without even asking me?」
The man, who was stopped by the knight who had guided us this far, turned out to be the current head chef of the Knight Order’s cafeteria.
Well, judging by appearances, he was the type who’d say, ‘Don’t fuss over the details!’. And the chaotic state of the kitchen probably reflected his personality.
「They’ve been invited as culinary advisors!」
「Culinary advisors, you say!?」
Frank’s sharp gaze bore into us upon hearing the knight’s words. Despite the chaotic state of the kitchen, he was still a seasoned cook. Among the six of us, Martina—the one with culinary experience—was immediately recognized. Frank approached us slowly.
「So, you’re telling me a young lady like you is going to teach me about cooking?」
「That’s correct.」
Martina replied, unyielding. When it came to cooking, she had principles that couldn’t be compromised.
Having trained under her father, the renowned chef Hugo-san, since childhood, Martina couldn’t simply overlook the sorry state of the kitchen. Unusually, her tone carried a hint of anger.
「Hey, listen.」
As I’m thinking about that, Kiara whispered to me.
「Is Martina… upset?」
「Seems like it. You know….. her words are the same, but there’s something different about her.」
Though she didn’t say it in words, her feelings were clear.
As everyone watched the situation with concern, one of the knights—who had been trying to calm Frank—uttered decisive words.
「This is also an order from Knight Commander Reginald!」
「Ugh!?」
As expected, when the name of the Knight Commander is mentioned, he wouldn’t be able to say anything back—but even so, Frank-san seemed unconvinced.
「Well then… have a cooking duel with me!」
Frank pointed at Martina.
「Understood. I accept.」
Martina replied, meeting the challenge head-on.
Things were getting complicated, wasn’t it?
