The calm atmosphere between the two lulled us into a brief moment of carelessness.
Suddenly, massive roots surged up from the ground.
They resembled the powers of the divine seed born from the Dragon Tree Sword.
「What!? It can’t be…!」
Mother alraune possessed powers strikingly similar to the divine seed.
Could she be a grown up form of the divine seed, Widley?
「One of the divine seeds was an Alraune all along—!」
I slashed at the attacking roots with the Dragon Tree Sword, all while checking the surroundings.
Kiara and Charlotte wielded their fire magic, burning away the roots, while Martina and Ailia skillfully cut them down with their swords.
If we kept this up, we might be able to strike back at Hanon’s mother—but isn’t this attack too straightforward?
I sensed something deeper behind all this.
Then, I looked up and saw it—a massive flower had bloomed overhead.
「Eh…?」
Why was there a flower there?
For a moment, I didn’t understand, but then—something strange happened.
From the flower above, pollen began raining down like a sudden storm.
「Damn it!」
If that pollen is poisonous—just thinking that sent a chill down my spine.
Everyone noticed the pollen, but we couldn’t defend against it. If it had been magic or a sword attack, we could’ve handled it. But pollen—none of us expected that.
None of us knew how to respond.
Frozen in place, we could only watch as Alraune’s pollen descended upon us.
But just then—
「Everyone, crouch down where you are!」
Simone shouted.
Confused by the sudden command, we followed her words without hesitation.
The next moment, everything went dark.
Looking up, I saw Simone in her dragon form.
「Si-Simone!?」
Simone had transformed into her dragon form, shielding us from the falling pollen with her massive body. But in doing so, she was exposing herself to the full brunt of it.
「Urgh…」
She let out a pained groan.
Hearing that sound caused something inside me to snap.
I had to save her.
Driven by that fierce determination, I plunged the Dragon Tree Sword into the ground.
I would use it—the divine seed, Widley.
「Go!」
Countless vines burst forth from Widley, wrapping around the flower above and dragging it deep into the earth. With this, the threat of pollen spreading was gone.
Immediately, I planted the next divine seed.
It was the seed of Bosch, the one with healing power.
I didn’t know if it would completely cure her, or even what kind of symptoms might appear, but I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
Meanwhile, Hanon, seeing Simone’s condition, glared sharply at her mother.
「All of this… just to increase your own power.」
When Hanon accused her, mother alraune simply smiled.
But that smile—was terrifyingly sinister.
