Before heading back to the academy, I made sure to report to Tavares-san and Gregory-san about the Dragon Tree Sword’s restoration—or rather, its newfound strength.
Both of them seemed stunned, muttering, ‘It’s even more powerful now…’ But once they heard that the pace of crop growth would return to normal, they breathed a sigh of relief.
However, there was a new issue this time around.
While the sword’s power was manageable for everyday farming tasks, controlling it in combat was proving to be difficult.
The battle with the Mist Witch had been more luck than skill, especially since it was our first encounter. If we had to face her again, things might not go as smoothly. And honestly, when we fought Hanon’s mother, Mamaraune, it was basically a defeat for us.
To overcome these challenges, I decided to visit Kiara’s mother, Slafin-san—a well-known ‘helpful character’ in the original Fantasy Farm Story game, famous for aiding struggling players.

On the day we set out for the academy, Kiara had already informed them of our visit through her familiar. However, ever since we received a reply, both Kiara and Charlotte had been acting a bit strange.
「What should we do…?」
「I don’t know… but…」
They often whispered to each other, but there was a weird tension in the air, and I couldn’t figure out what it was.
We couldn’t go on like this, though, so I decided to ask them directly before our departure. If there was something serious going on, we might even need to postpone the trip.
When I confronted them, they finally spoke up.
「The truth is… there’s a school festival coming up soon.」
Kiara revealed this as if she were delivering some kind of death sentence.
But from the sound of it, it didn’t seem like a problem to me.
「What’s a school festival?」
Martina, Hanon, Simone, and Ailia all tilted their heads in confusion, having no idea what a school festival even was.
So, I gave them a quick explanation.
「That sounds fun!」
「I don’t see any reason to dread it…」
「I agree, it seems exciting.」
「Why are you two so against it?」
「「…………」」
As Ailia’s question hung in the air, Kiara and Charlotte exchanged glances. Finally, they nodded in unison, as if deciding to share the whole story.
「When the Dragon Tree Sword was restored, we were so happy that we agreed to come to the academy…」
「But now… someone Bale-san least want to meet has gained a troublesome position there.」
「The person I least want to meet…?」
Charlotte was being polite, but I knew exactly who she meant—my cousin, Dirk.
What had he gotten himself into at the academy?
「Did something happen with Dirk?」
「He’s been persistently……. targeting me and Kiara.」
「Eh?」
It seemed the situation was going to be more complicated than I’d imagined.
