Chapter 200 – Bale’s Strategy

「Bale!」

Dirk’s rage had reached its peak, and all he could manage was to shout my name.

…Everything was going as planned. Maybe even a little too smoothly.

Better give it one last push, just to be safe.

「If you don’t need anything, I’m leaving.」

「Wait! Don’t think you can just walk away!」

His words were nothing more than baseless accusations, but Dirk was too consumed by anger to think rationally.

Maybe this was his true nature at the academy—reckless and unchecked, with no one to rein him in.

「Step outside and face me in a duel!」

「A duel?」

Dirk was challenging me, no doubt intending to humiliate me in front of Kiara by overwhelming me with the power of his divine sword.

But I simply shrugged it off.

「Not interested. I’ll pass.」

With that, I turned away, walking off with Kiara.

「You think I’ll let you get away with that?!」

Dirk bolted after us, but—

「W-wait! If you leave, we can’t do the play without the lead actor!」

Lester called out, stopping Dirk in his tracks.

「You were the original lead, weren’t you? Then you can take over! I’ve got bigger things to deal with!」

Dirk snapped, practically spitting the words out.

Though dismissive, Dirk’s outburst created the exact situation the theater club had been hoping for.

This—this was the outcome I’d aimed for all along.

Dirk’s obsession with me hadn’t waned. Even with his superior position, losing Kiara and Charlotte to me was something he couldn’t overlook. I had anticipated he’d prioritize me over everything else… but I didn’t expect him to fall into the trap so perfectly.

I exchanged a quick glance with the theater members, and they all bowed their heads in gratitude. I felt a little guilty for dragging Kiara into this, but for some reason, she seemed to be enjoying herself, so I let it go.

Now, the real challenge begins.

I led Dirk out of the auditorium and headed toward the farm area. It was remote enough that no other students would get involved.

As expected, Dirk followed us without a second thought. His obsession was unnerving… but had I really done something to deserve this level of hatred?

Before I knew it, we had reached the garbage pit where I had first met Jenny. I slowed down, then came to a complete stop.

「So, you’ve finally given up.」

Mistaking our stop for surrender, Dirk smirked triumphantly as he drew his divine sword.

「This is perfect. No one will find us here.」

Did he plan to take this opportunity to get rid of me for good?

「You think your flimsy sword can even scratch me?」

「!?」

Those words aren’t something I haven’t heard off.

But it was because of the Dragon Tree Sword that I’d made it this far.

Though I still couldn’t wield it properly, having just been reborn… after hearing that, there was no way I could back down now.
