Chapter 237 – The Prince’s Whereabouts

Charlotte pressed her hand against the castle wall, her brow furrowed in concentration.

「Is something wrong, Charlotte?」

「There’s a strange magic power… coming from this wall.」

「A strange magic power?」

Her words were concerning.

Given that there had been no reports of the prince leaving the castle, Adwel must still be here, yet we hadn’t been able to find him. Now, this strange magic power has appeared.

「Seems like we might have a clue here.」

It felt inevitable that this magical presence had something to do with Prince Adwel.

Without wasting time, Kiara and Charlotte, both skilled in magic, began to investigate the source. Their findings indicated that the magic power was leaking from beneath the castle.

「Underground…?」

「Impossible. This castle doesn’t have a basement—!」

Schultz-san stopped mid-sentence as realization dawned on him.

Even Schultz-san, a veteran knight who had served the royal family for many years, was unaware of this mysterious underground area. This had to be it—the secret chamber we’d been searching for.

It was almost certain that Prince Adwel was hiding there.

「Then let’s start searching immediately!」

Martina called out, rallying the knights, who responded with a battle cry.

「Hold on. We don’t even know the exact location yet, remember?」

Kiara interjected, her voice calm but sharp.

Her remark brought everyone back to reality. While the enthusiasm was good, it wouldn’t help much if we didn’t know where to search. We’d only exhaust ourselves at this rate.

Still, the determination of Martina and the knights was commendable, and their desire to act was important.

So, we decided to split into two teams.

One group would search for any promising spots, while the other, led by Kiara, Charlotte, and me, would follow the magic power trail to pinpoint the prince’s location.

In truth, besides Kiara and Charlotte, I was the only one who could use my connection with the divine seed to track magic power in a similar way.

It was important to move quietly and precisely without causing too much commotion, which sounded easy in theory but was quite tricky.

「I can’t pinpoint it any further…」

「Don’t give up now, Charlotte.」

Kiara encouraged Charlotte, showing the strong bond they shared.

Watching them interact so closely warmed my heart, but I soon had to focus again.

「Hmm?」

Using the power of the divine seed of the Dragon Tree Sword, I sent thin vines snaking into every nook and cranny of the castle, searching for any trace of Prince Adwel’s magic power.

Finally, I got a response.

「It looks like there’s a path to the underground on the west side.」

「The west! I’ll go tell everyone!」

「I’ll come, too!」

The two of them immediately run off to inform the others.

Now, with this information in hand, we had finally cornered Prince Adwel.
