After a long break, I set up my smartphone and started a live stream.
「Hey everyone, long time no see!」
As soon as I greeted them, viewers slowly started joining. Since many were subscribed to the channel, they probably got a notification the moment I went live.
「I wasn’t really feeling up to streaming again, but this time, Dori’s the one who wanted to do it.」

I took out the small and large plastic containers. Judging by the comments, it seemed like no one knew what we were about to do.
「Dori, bring it over!」
「Yes!」
Dori saluted in front of the camera, proudly showing off the egg she was holding.
「Kokekoko!」
「We got this egg from the nearby poultry farm!」

Even though Sena was in the same house, she was probably watching the stream from the next room. I could hear strange noises coming from there.
「I actually did this once for a school project in elementary school. My grandma kept all the tools from back then.」
「Haus!」
「Yep, it’s Kokekoko’s home.」
After explaining the tools and the process, we began setting up the homemade incubator.
It was mostly just a matter of assembling everything. We placed a small dish of water and a damp cloth to maintain humidity, and laid a towel under the egg.
「We need to mark the egg.」
「Mak?」
「So we can turn the egg regularly.」
Since it wasn’t an automatic incubator, there was no mechanism for turning the egg.
Ideally, it should be turned every hour, but that wasn’t realistic, so we settled on turning it every few hours. To make it easier, we marked the egg for reference.
「Well, all that’s left is to hope it grows properly.」
「Yeah!」
Dori was so happy she couldn’t stop staring at the egg. Even though it wouldn’t grow overnight, she clung to the handmade incubator, refusing to go to bed.
「It’s late, time to sleep.」
When I picked her up, she started squirming.
「Stretch stretch perst!」
I wondered if that little spell worked on eggs, too.
The chances were high this egg was unfertilized, but I figured I’d explain that later. Telling her from the start felt a bit too cruel.
If Dori was going to do it, I’d join her and cast the spell together.

「Stretch stretch!」
「Stretch stretch!」
Following Dori’s cue, we stretched our arms high and stretched our backs.
「Stretch stretch!」
Even Sena’s voice echoed from the next room.

I ended the stream and tucked Dori into bed with me.
「I hope it hatches healthy and strong!」
「Yeah!」
As if the excitement never happened, Dori fell asleep instantly. Kids always do sleep easily.
I had my doubts, but since Sena would be staying in the house for a while, I decided to keep streaming.
Little did I know that by the time I noticed the comments again, I’d be face-to-face with him.
