The revelation that vegetables grown with holy water could suppress the dragonkin’s long-standing cannibalistic urge brought a ray of hope to their village.
If continued consumption of these vegetables could entirely suppress the urge, it would mark a significant turning point in their lives, potentially allowing them to reconnect with humans and fundamentally transform their existence.
However, before that vision could become a reality, there was an immediate issue to address: the unrelenting roar that had echoed through the forest since our arrival. We needed to free the former Dragon King, Bardin, from his cannibalistic urge.
「I want to give your vegetables to Bardin-sama…」
To save Bardin-san, the vegetables we brought were essential. Unfortunately, we hadn’t come on this journey intending to sell produce and only had the sandwiches we had prepared. Checking our supplies confirmed the grim reality—what we had wouldn’t be nearly enough for someone as massive as Bardin-san.
「This is a problem…」
「Should we return to the dungeon farm and bring back more vegetables?」
Ailia’s suggestion was practical, but it posed significant challenges.
「With his enormous size, he’d need a substantial quantity before the effect kicks in. Transporting that much would be difficult, and it would take considerable time.」
「And that might disrupt our future plans, right?」
Kiara’s observation hit the mark. Moreover, even if we managed to suppress his urge temporarily, it wouldn’t be a permanent solution. If the urge kept recurring, it would only lead to more suffering.
In that case—
「It’d be best if we could grow the vegetables here.」
That was the optimal plan.
I’d already established farms in challenging locations like Datten Village in the desert and the snow-covered Rodan Kingdom. Compared to those, setting up a farm in the dragonkin’s village should be straightforward—except for one critical obstacle.
The holy water.
The underground lake near the dungeon farm was filled with countless magic stones, which infused the water with magic power. This magical water significantly enhanced the vegetables’ properties, making them effective against the cannibalistic urge.
But this village didn’t have any holy water.
Simply growing vegetables wouldn’t be enough; they had to be cultivated with water containing the holy water’s properties to suppress the urge.
「Is there no way to replicate it…?」
The future of the dragonkin hinged on this holy water.
I scanned the surroundings, desperate for an alternative, when suddenly—
「Wait… maybe…」
A possibility struck me.
