「Hir we goe!」
「I haven’t been forgiven ye—」
「Neither have I—」
「Annoyee!」
With an impressive burst of energy, Dori hurled Ordinary Person and Doctor, who were still bowing their heads in front of the house, clear off the front step.
「Whoa, Dori, you’re so strong!」
「Yeah!」
As her father, I couldn’t help but applaud her newfound strength.
Not long ago, Dori could barely hold me back if I tried to walk away. Now, she’d just lifted and tossed two grown adults—one of whom was bigger than me.
How could I not cheer for her?
「Hey, isn’t my kid amazing?」
「Ah… amazing might not even cover it. I don’t know what to say, honestly.」
I glanced at Haruki, who seemed to struggle for words as he watched the spectacle.
If Sena had been here, she’d probably be clapping alongside me, beaming with pride.
「Oh, Doctor, will you be staying for stew?」
「Eh… are you really okay with that?」
「Of course. It’s not like we’re mad about anything.」
As I said this, Haruki leaned in to whisper something. Apparently, someone had contacted the video streaming provider, and my channel had been temporarily restricted. Until I granted permission, my content was hidden from viewers.
Curious, I checked my phone. Sure enough, the direct messages contained a lengthy apology letter.
「So, that’s how they used that feature, huh?」
「Go ahead and use my husband Haruki as much as you like!」
「Yes! Feel free to flirt shamelessly!」
These two were as incomprehensible as ever.
Sure, I had Haruki help with the fence earlier, but did they expect me to use him even more?
He already came over to cook meals like a live-in housekeeper and even helped out with the farm work. That alone was an immense help.
Maybe I should have Haruki teach me how to use those features I still didn’t understand.
「You know what? I wouldn’t mind being your live-in wife!」
That feels… a bit off.
If I were to consider a live-in wife, it’d have to be someone beautiful.
「Wouldn’t Haruki technically be a live-in husband?」
「Ahhh, I can’t stop this poison from spilling!」
「Wai wai, bucket pers!」
Dori dashed off to fetch a bucket, her tiny legs moving as fast as they could.
Lady’s “poison” was spewing everywhere again. While it could eventually be dispelled, it left the affected area unusable until it dissipated.
Apparently, there was no magic that could stop her once she started ranting.
「Baket!」
Dori handed over the bucket, and Lady smirked as she glanced at us, an amused glint in her eye.
Beside her, Sakura was also staring at us with an almost unnerving sparkle in her gaze.
Was it just my imagination, or did they exude a similar energy?
「Hahaha, don’t worry about Sakura. Ever since you were elevated from favorite to divinity, she’s been acting like that.」
「Wow, I’ve been upgraded!」
Maybe this rural life really did bring about some kind of rebirth for her.
I’d heard bits and pieces about Haruki’s family situation, but if they were happy and thriving now, I had no complaints.
「Alright, I’ll go make stew with Grandma!」
「Schuu!」
Dori pursed her lips in excitement and eagerly followed Haruki into the kitchen.
Watching them leave, Yuri cast an envious glance in their direction.
Yuri probably wanted to be honest with herself, but she didn’t know how to take that step yet.
「Well, I’ve got time. Wanna come help, Yuri?」
「Eh, it’s too hot.」
I had hoped she’d agree without a fuss, but her blunt refusal made it clear Yuri wasn’t going to make it easy.
「You’re right. It’s pretty warm today, and stew is hot food on top of that.」
This time of year, with the lingering heat, making stew meant working in an already stifling kitchen. Just thinking about standing near the stove made me hesitate.
「But if you really want me to help, Papa-san…」
Even as she said that, Yuri kept sneaking glances at me.
This was Haruki’s cue. No words were needed—he’d understand what I was asking.
I gave Haruki a slight nod.
「Ah, I’d really appreciate your help too, Yuri.」
As expected, Haruki caught on immediately.
But for some reason, Yuri’s earlier spark seemed to dim a little when she looked at him.
Teenage girls were complicated creatures.
「Ugh, fine. If Haruki wants my help, I guess I can’t say no.」
Though she put on a reluctant act, Yuri headed toward the kitchen.
Oddly enough, her steps had a subtle bounce, almost like she was skipping.
「Ahhh, my poison won’t stop. Did you see those two just now? Communicating with just a glance… my soul can’t take this.」
「Fufufu, but it’s nice to see Yuri looking so happy, isn’t it?」
The two women behind me seemed to be on entirely different wavelengths, yet somehow their conversation carried on seamlessly.
