To learn about Claudia-san’s whereabouts, we decided to visit the Blaffer family’s mansion.
「Bringing such a large group back home for the first time might cause my overly anxious father to faint, you know」
「Eh? Why? Wouldn’t he be happy to see so many friends coming over?」
「It’s because there are so many, Ailia」
「???」
It was almost as if question marks were flying over Ailia’s head.
Well, no wonder.
If I were in her position, I’d also be baffled by what that meant.
Nowadays, Charlotte is a central figure at the dungeon farm, but when we first met, she didn’t have any friends. Back then, she even viewed Kiara—who was similarly isolated at the academy—as her rival.
Well, the rivalry part hasn’t changed much even now, but compared to before, they seem more like close friends these days.
For that reason, Kiara’s father—the head of the Blaffer family—had always been worried about her lack of social connections.
But now that Charlotte is surrounded by so many companions, she seems brighter and more cheerful than before.
Come to think of it, my own family… no, it’s not accurate to call it mine anymore.
Back then, Charlotte and I were supposed to be engaged. My side broke it off unilaterally, which led to her older brother, Lawrence-san, harboring a lot of resentment toward me.
「Lawrence-san… I wonder if he knows anything」
His face came to mind.
Lawrence-san is notorious for his bottomless affection toward his little sister, or rather, siscon tendencies.
Because of that, I thought he might know something about Claudia-san, who worked closely as Charlotte’s personal maid.
Still… I can’t say I have high hopes for that.
After all, he’s a knight and not someone we can easily meet on a whim.
◇◇◇
We arrived at the Blaffer estate by carriage, and Sylvia* immediately went to request an audience with the head of the house, Zenon Blaffer-sama.
I figured it wouldn’t go smoothly if I were the one asking, but if Charlotte herself made the request, it would likely be handled promptly.
And that gamble paid off.
We were led by a butler to Zenon-sama’s office.
…This man might have been my father-in-law under different circumstances.
I vaguely recall his face from memory, but it’s not entirely clear.
Now that it’s actually happening, I’m starting to feel nervous.
TN: No idea who Sylvia is. I have no idea what happened to the three additional maids(Nonori, Maggie, Talisa) at the dungeon farm too.
