Chapter 33 – Experimentation and Return

(With this, I should have successfully learned teleportation magic.)

Time to test it out.

I silently chanted the skill’s name in my mind.

(Teleport!)

For now, I visualized teleporting from the basement to the fortress’s front gate and activated the spell.

Then—

A magic circle spread beneath my feet, radiating light.

In the next instant—

The scenery around me shifted in a blink, and before I knew it, I had arrived at my intended destination.

The fortress’s main gate.

Turning around, I saw the fortress’s outer walls and the collapsed remains of the stronghold.

Nearby, the corpses of the guards I had slain—the crocodile demon and the rabbit demon—were sprawled out.

「Looks like the teleportation worked without issue.」

I smiled in satisfaction.

Teleportation magic was a cheat-level skill that allowed instantaneous travel to any location I had previously visited.

In a world where travel methods were limited, it was an incredibly useful spell.

I was glad I had obtained it here.

Now then—

I prepared to use teleportation magic once more.

This time, my destination was Hiko Village.

However—

(I don’t want others to know I can use teleportation magic.)

That thought crossed my mind.

So instead of teleporting right into the middle of the village, I chose to arrive in a nearby forest.

「Teleport.」

With that incantation, I activated the spell.

I reappeared in the forest overlooking Hiko Village.

From there, I made my way into the village on foot.

As I entered, I saw a gathering of people ahead.

Flemia was among them.

「…Ah!」

Noticing me, Flemia rushed over.

「Henry-san!」

「I’m back.」

I murmured in reply.

At that moment, an elderly man stepped forward from the crowd.

Judging by his demeanor, he appeared to be the village chief.

「I am the chief of this village. Are you the one called Henry, who killed Buros-sama?」

「Yeah, that’s me.」

I confirmed without hesitation.

The village chief continued.

「I heard you intended to kill the demons at the fortress… but from the looks of you, I take it the attack was a failure?」

…Huh?

No, I didn’t fail.

It seemed the village chief had misunderstood something.

He went on.

「Listen, I’ll give you some advice. Do not oppose the demons. No one can defeat Logos-sama, who rules that fortress. If you value your life, you should quietly leave this land.」

「Village Chief. You seem to be mistaken—the attack on the fortress was a success.」

I told him.

The village chief tilted his head.

「Hmm?」

「I killed Logos. I also wiped out the lower-ranked demons one by one. Most of them should be dead by now.」

「…Henry, do not speak such nonsense. Even as a joke, if the demons hear you claiming to have killed Logos-sama… do you have any idea what would happen?」

「It’s the truth.」

Saying that, I decided to provide proof.

From my item bag, I retrieved the severed head of Logos.

And showed it to the village chief.

「Wha—wha-wha-WHAAAT!?」

The village chief recoiled in shock.

The villagers, including Flemia, stared in stunned silence at the severed head of Logos.
