Chapter 42 – Battle

I wrapped my Psychokinesis around my skin like a protective barrier.

With this, I had no reason to fear the soldiers’ attacks.

Even if I took their strikes head-on, they wouldn’t leave a scratch.

(Not that I have any intention of letting them hit me in the first place.)

I might as well use this fight as practice for dodging.

I swung my fists.

I took them down.

I punched them to death.

I kicked them to death.

Unleashing my Psychokinesis-infused strikes, I rampaged through their ranks.

「Guh…!」

「What kind of strength is this…!?」

「Is he a monster!?」

The soldiers recoiled in terror.

As I sent them flying, I could feel my own growth.

(I’m moving even more effortlessly than before.)

Most likely, it was because of how many demons I had slain.

Taking down Logos in particular had given me a noticeable surge in power.

(This is good. My overall level increasing is ideal—I don’t want to just rely on Psychokinesis but grow stronger in every aspect.)

Thinking that, I continued my slaughter.

Once I wiped out this lot, my level would rise even further.

I’d gladly take the experience points they provided.

Then—

「Don’t get ahead of yourself.」

A low, rage-filled voice rang out from the side.

The Knight Commander.

「Die, you wretched noble.」

He swung his sword in a horizontal slash.

Fast.

I backstepped to avoid it.

But the Knight Commander didn’t falter—he immediately followed up with another strike.

A second.

A third.

The relentless flurry of sword swings forced me on the defensive.

「!!」

Then—

Magic erupted from both sides.

A fireball from the right.

A water sphere from the left.

「HAAAAH!!」

And in front, the Knight Commander was closing in.

Tch… Annoying.

Attacks from the right, left, and front—this was getting bothersome.

At least the magic attacks wouldn’t harm me even if they hit.

I just needed to block the Knight Commander’s blade.

Just as I decided—

「TEYAAAAHHH!!」

「!?」

Someone attacked from behind.

A young female warrior.

She swung a massive warhammer in a wide arc.

(Tch…)

I clicked my tongue internally.

Front: Knight Commander.

Right: Fireball.

Left: Water sphere.

Behind: Hammer warrior.

An attack from four directions at once.

(Defending against all of them would be difficult.)

I’d have to blow away the Knight Commander and charge forward.

That was my plan—

But—

「Too slow!」

The Knight Commander suddenly backstepped, creating distance.

He read my move.

And now—I was stepping straight into his sword’s range.
