Now then.
I arrived at the treasury.
A guard was posted there, but the moment he saw my face, he tensed up.
「Y-Your Majesty!!」
The guard snapped to attention with a sharp salute.
I gave him an order.
「I want to enter the treasury. Open the door」
「Yes!」
He immediately unlocked the treasury doors.
I stepped inside.
The treasury held gold and silver treasures, expensive-looking jars and plates, treasure chests, and more.
Among them, I picked up a small, ornately decorated box.
「This is it」
I opened the box, and inside was a card.
A magic card with gilded edges.
「Is that card the translation item nyaa?」
「Yeah. Just carrying it is enough to activate it」
I tossed the card into my item bag.
With this, any language I hear will now be automatically converted into one I understand.
Likewise, anything I say will be translated into a language the listener can understand.
In other words, I can now communicate with anyone in the world.
「Alright. I’m done here. Let’s go back」
And so, I left the treasury.
After that, I left the royal castle.
I headed to a merchant company that specialized in furniture and furnishings.
It was time to refurbish the interior of the royal castle.
Right now, it was still full of Glaston’s belongings.
Tableware, tables, beds, chairs used during his lifetime…
Even statues of armor and weapons.
All of those possessions, every last one, I decided to discard.
Then, I bought new furniture for myself.
Starting today, I arranged for the newly ordered furnishings to be installed.
「Good. Now I can sleep in the castle starting tonight」
I smiled as I looked over the freshly outfitted royal bedroom.
This room had been left as a vacant chamber during Glaston’s reign…
But I had now claimed it as my personal quarters.
The interior was as follows.
A table in the center of the room.
Another table along the wall.
A canopy bed.
A bedside table.
Bookshelves lined with volumes.
A landscape painting of a lake hanging on the wall.
…and so on.
From the back of the room, a door led out to a balcony.
The balcony was fairly spacious, with a round table and three chairs placed there.
Naturally, all of this furniture was newly purchased just today.
「What a nice view」
This room was on the seventh floor of the castle.
The top floor. From the balcony’s edge, I could see the city below.
Just below and to the right was the very arena where the Grand Martial Tournament had been held.
Beyond the town spread the lush green fields of the Bernada Highlands.
(If I sat at this table for a meal, I’d probably feel quite refined)
As I ran my hand along the balcony table, that thought crossed my mind.
Since I’ve become king, I might as well enjoy a touch of elegance while handling my duties.
