<Henry’s POV>
I sent letters to the surrounding nations, including the Galastone Kingdom, regarding the unfair treaties.
But the responses were all the same.
They flatly refused to renegotiate.
(Well… those benefiting from an unfair treaty wouldn’t give it up so easily)
Solving this problem was going to take time.
But still…
(I’m not against resolving it through force in the end)
In other words, one possible future involved using psychokinesis and Bernada’s combat power to crush the surrounding nations and forcefully dissolve the unfair treaties.
That, too, was within the scope of my plans.

Seasons changed, and winter arrived.
The view from the royal castle’s window was now a snowy landscape.
The snowfield shimmered like diamonds under the sunlight.
――――In the audience chamber.
I sat on the throne.
Vischy and Nordura stood at my sides.
Today, I had summoned Vais and Rena.
I spoke to the two of them.
「It’s been a while. Have you been doing well?」
「Yeah. Looks like you’re doing fine as king too」
Vais replied.
「I still can’t believe it… that you really defeated Glaston and became king」
Rena murmured, still looking like it hadn’t sunk in.
I told them straight.
「There’s something I want to ask of you today」
I got right to the point.
「I’m planning to form an intelligence unit. I want you two to lead it」
Vais and Rena exchanged looks.
「An intelligence unit… what kind of missions would that involve exactly?」
Rena asked.
「Infiltrating neighboring nations and gathering information」
「Neighboring nations…」
「Especially those that have signed unfair treaties with us. As you already know, under the Glaston administration, we were forced into unequal agreements with other countries. To negotiate from a better position, we need intel」
Vais crossed his arms, thinking it over.
「So basically… find their weaknesses to help break the treaties, huh?」
「That’s one way to put it」
I nodded.
Rena turned to Vais.
「…Well, this is the kind of job we’re suited for. We’ve been pretty bored lately. Might as well take it」
「Yeah」
Vais agreed.
I asked again.
「Will you do it?」
「Yeah. I still owe you for sparing my life back then. Let me repay that now」
Vais and Rena accepted the mission.
I gave them a satisfied nod and said,
「Still… doing infiltration work in winter won’t be easy. Until spring comes, I’ll assign you a different task」
「A different task?」
「Strength training」
I declared.
Intelligence work was dangerous.
That’s why I thought Vais and Rena should undergo physical enhancement before the real missions began.
And so, until spring arrived, Vais and Rena would spend their time training in the Amial Dungeon.
