Someone appeared to object to my thinking.
「I’m against that plan」
A sudden burst of light gathered in the corner of my room.
The light gradually formed a humanoid shape.
Moments later, a woman appeared there.
「You are… Warrior Spirit Seraphina」
「It’s been a while, Henry」
It had been quite some time.
Probably two or three years since we last met.
For Vischy and Nordura, this was their first time seeing her.
Still, perhaps sensing that she wasn’t someone to pick a fight with, both Vischy and Nordura fell silent, blending into the surrounding tension.
「I came to deliver my will」
Seraphina declared.
「Vischy, Nordura, Henry… I forbid the three of you from going into battle at the same time」
「Huh? Why?」
「Bernada is a nation of warriors. Fighting is the joy of its people. It wouldn’t be right for the three of you to monopolize that joy」
I frowned.
It sounded like a completely baseless argument.
「How foolish. There’s fighting everywhere in this country. Arenas in every district, street fights thriving」
「True killing is something else entirely. It’s the grand stage for a warrior」
Seraphina countered.
She continued.
「And just so we’re clear, this is an order. If you defy it, I’ll take away your “Blessing”」
The Blessing…
A contract with a spirit that grants incredibly powerful abilities.
Seraphina was threatening to revoke it.
I let out a sigh.
「Tch… fine. I’ll comply」
I clearly stated that the three of us would not go on a rampage together.
Seraphina smiled at my response.
Then she said.
「I guess that came off like a threat. I don’t want you to hate me, so I’ll give you a little apology gift」
「A gift?」
「This」
What she handed me was a blue fruit shaped like a mango.
I tilted my head.
「…What’s this?」
「It’s a fruit called Lucopis. In the spirit world, it’s famous for being outrageously delicious. Apparently, it ranks among the top ten flavors in existence」
「Hmm. Food, huh」
「Not satisfied?」
「No… it’s not that」
I was just a bit underwhelmed.
I thought I’d be getting some ridiculous new power like the Blessing.
Still… I don’t hate eating good food.
For me, gourmet experiences are one of the joys of life in this other world.
「I’ll gladly accept it」
I said.
I thought the conversation was over, but Seraphina added something.
「Ah, right. I said “Don’t go into battle together”, but that doesn’t apply to the final war, the one you’ve designated as the last. At least for that, go wild and show the world how terrifying you three are. Farewell」
With that, Seraphina truly ended the conversation and vanished in a burst of light.
Silence settled over the room.
After a while, Nordura murmured.
「So that was Warrior Spirit Seraphina… I’ve never seen her before, but the pressure she gave off was unreal」
「Yeah. If we fought her, I’m not sure even I’d survive, nyaa. It’s been a while since I met someone that far above me, nyaa」
Vischy murmured thoughtfully as well.
Then Nordura said.
「But… you already knew the spirit, didn’t you, Henry?」
「Yeah. I got to talk with her when I became king」
「I see. Being able to speak on equal footing with such an unearthly being… you really are beyond the bounds of reason」
「…」
The reason I don’t fear spirits is because, if it comes to it, I can kill them.
Even so, I’d rather not fight Seraphina.
She’s just too strong.
Killing her would be more trouble than it’s worth…
