Chapter 271 – Chains

Cheers rose once again from the Bernada army.

「Oooooooh!!」

「Amazing!」

「He’s going full unrivaled warrior out there!」

「That’s really our king!?」

「He’s so cool!」

The Bernada soldiers shouted one after another.

Their morale was sky-high.

(The plan is working for now.)

Henry thought so.

A king charging alone is an enormous risk.

In military strategy and theory, it’s considered the height of foolishness.

But soldiers admire a king who fights on the front lines far more than one who lounges in the rear.

In Earth’s history, Alexander the Great was known for fighting that way, and soldiers loved him for it.

(Before I move on to the next phase of the plan, I should rampage a bit more.)

His allies’ morale was up, but the enemy’s frontline was still in good condition.

He wanted to break them a bit further.

「…Hm?」

It happened then.

Something wrapped around Henry’s arm.

――――A chain.

Not just his arms.

His legs too.

Chains wrapped around both arms and legs, binding his limbs in an instant.

Henry quickly shifted his gaze and saw four chain-users gripping the chains like reins.

All of them were men.

「Got you, Your Majesty.」

「Your lone rampage ends here. Once our chains catch you, you can’t move at all。」

The chain-users declared.

The chains were indeed sturdy, and the bindings on his limbs were strong. Most people wouldn’t be able to break free.

「And――――the one who kills you will be me.」

An elderly soldier stepped forward.

He carried a halberd.

(I see. Four restrain the target, and the last one finishes the kill. A coordinated tactic.)

Henry narrowed his eyes.

「Die!! Henry!!」

The tip of the halberd pointed straight at him――――

A sharp thrust shot forward.

A flawless strike aimed precisely at Henry’s heart.

But――

「―――――――!?」

The old soldier gasped in shock.

Because Henry had dodged the halberd thrust.

「What!?」

Henry ‘should’ have been completely restrained.

Yet he moved as if the bindings didn’t exist, calmly and effortlessly.

The chain-users’ eyes widened in shock.

Henry’s counterattack struck the old soldier square in the face.

「Gubh!?」

That single blow killed him.

Henry muttered.

「Impossible… how can he move!?」

「Heh. You really thought such flimsy chains could hold me? Foolish.」

He laughed, then took a runner’s starting pose.

「If you want to stop me, bring chains forged by a spirit.」

He then burst into a sprint.

The four men panicked, gripping the chains tight to hold him back.

But none of them could resist Henry’s sheer force.

Zuzazazazazah!!

They were dragged across the ground at frightening speed.

「Wh-what is this guy!?」

「There’s four of us and we still can’t stop him!?」

「This is insane!!」

The chain-users yelled in panic.

One of them lost his footing and fell.

The fall pulled the other three down one after another.

Now completely free, Henry――――

「Since I’ve got them, I may as well use these chains as a weapon.」

He flashed a fearless grin.

The chains were long like ropes.

He could attack enemies even at mid-range.

「Hmph!!!」

Henry swung the chains.

He wasn’t especially skilled with them.

So, he used psychokinesis, moving the chains as if they were being handled naturally.

He also reinforced their durability with his power.

The force with which he whipped the chains was enough to shatter bones and flesh in a single strike.

「Gah!!?」

「Giiih!!?」

「Aa, aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!! My arm, my arm is broken…!!???」

Whrrr!!

Whrrr, whrrr!! The chains sliced through the air as they spun.

Snapping like a whip, the chains lashed into the soldiers ahead, filling the battlefield with their screams.
