Clemuir’s sudden recklessness.
Her roundhouse kick targeted Henry’s temple with perfect precision.
For him, it was a complete surprise attack.
Yet he quickly raised his arm to guard his temple, just in time.
The blow failed to land cleanly, and the tremendous force whipped up a storm around them.
(So, this isn’t rebellion against me…)
Henry analyzed her attack that way.
No doubt the kick had been thrown with killing intent.
But Clemuir held no conscious malice toward him.
She was in a frenzy, unable to distinguish between friend or foe, striking at whoever happened to be nearby.
「GAGGAAAAAAAHHH!!!」
Shrieking wildly, Clemuir swung her fist at him.
(Best to subdue her for now)
Henry decided, slipping past her strike.
Then driving his fist straight into her jaw.
「Guh!?」
At the same time, he lashed her brain with psychic force, snuffing out her consciousness.
Clemuir collapsed to the ground, unmoving.
Subjugation complete.
「What a mad dog of a woman」
Henry muttered in exasperation.
He reached into his item box and pulled out a High Potion.
Pouring it over the fallen Clemuir, he doused her wounds with the liquid.
It was a potent brew. Her injuries closed rapidly.
Shattered bones knit together, damaged organs restored.
But her consciousness did not return.
She remained asleep.
(Well, she’ll wake soon enough. The healing’s done, that’s good enough)
Henry judged.
「Now then… my subordinate had a little outburst, but as you see, I’ve put her down. We were in the middle of a discussion, weren’t we? You said you had a question for me」
「……」
Orika stayed silent, her eyes locked on him, filled with caution.
(To bring down Clemuir, in that berserk state, with a single blow…)
Orika was astonished at how swiftly Henry had subdued her.
Killing a rampaging beast was easy enough.
But neutralizing it without letting it die, that was far more difficult.
(As expected, the King of Bernada is no simple opponent)
Even Luis’s analytical eye could not measure Henry’s strength.
He was not one to be underestimated.
Yet Orika felt no premonition of defeat.
On the contrary, she still firmly believed in her own absolute victory.
「My question… no longer matters」
Orika said.
「I’ve no intention of wasting more words. Let us begin」
「Very well」
Henry answered.
And with that, both of them assumed battle stance.
