The day after getting plenty of rest. In one of the outside rooms, Ladarion’s room, we all decided to clean our guns together.
I told them they could go out if they had business, but Kainzel-san joined in and was taking guns apart and cleaning them with us.
It was still too difficult for Bisha and Mebi, so I had them wipe down the outside with silicone spray.
I had been using the all-purpose lubricant 556, but after looking into it, I figured a dedicated gun oil would be better, so I switched to a rust-preventive lubricant that came up right away.
We started with the Glocks first, and as we worked, I taught Kainzel-san the disassembly steps. I left the SCAR and the 416D to Ladarion.
I asked Miriel to clean the barrel of the MINIMI. That was something she had already done before.
While we were taking it easy and working, the great oni Azur Rise showed up. Does this great oni take days off when it rains?
「Came to buy」
As usual, the great oni was short on words. Well, it would be troublesome if he were chatty too.
「Seems I interrupted you」
He must have sensed people in Ladarion’s room, because he said something surprisingly polite. He looks scary, but at heart, this great oni is actually pretty serious.
「It’s fine. This is basically a break anyway. Ladarion, let’s take a break. Bring some sweets」

Maybe they think cake appears whenever Azur Rise comes, because Bisha and Mebi jumped out of the room.

I asked him that and had him bring them, while I took out the portable gas stove and boiled some water.

That was what she said after finishing one whole strawberry cake. What kind of stomach do people with a sweet tooth have? Just watching them makes my own stomach feel weird.
「If you become a goblin extermination contractor, you can eat it. Kill one goblin and you can buy two of those cakes. If you hunt a few goblins while doing normal requests, you could eat them not just every day, but morning, noon, and night」
A life where you can eat cake morning, noon, and night. Just thinking about it makes my mouth feel sweet.

So Azur Rise became a contractor.
「While we’re at it, let’s clear out the goblins around Lasagna Village. Kainzel-san, could you lend me the Scorpion?」
I still haven’t bought more guns, and the MP9 isn’t suited for extermination. The Scorpion is water-resistant, so it should be perfect for a day like this.
「Azur Rise. There are a few dozen goblins around here. Want to do it?」
「Of course」
We went back to the Home, got ready, borrowed the Scorpion, and headed out with just Azur Rise to exterminate goblins.
「First, there are two over there」
「You can tell?」
「Yeah. I can sense goblins, at least. I’ll leave the other monsters to you」
Having a Gold-ranked adventurer along is reassuring. Might as well train in the rain too.
I moved ahead and closed the distance to about thirty meters.
「There. Two of them are hiding about thirty paces away. I can tell they’ve noticed us」
「Got it」
He answered, and when I turned around, Azur Rise was gone. Where did he—? As I looked around, the goblin presence vanished. Huh?
「I hunted them」
He came back calmly from ahead, holding goblins by the neck.
…G-Gold rank is way too monstrous…
「Y-you can drop the goblins. Killing them is enough to get the reward. Check your contractor card」
He tossed the goblins aside and took out his contractor card.
「…It’s in」
「That’s seven thousand yen. About two large copper coins, I guess」
Huh? How much was one large copper coin again? I forgot.
「That means I can buy four of those cakes」
It’s probably best to convert everything into cake units for Azur Rise.
「Yeah. If it’s cream puffs, you could easily buy seventy」
「That’s three days of eating morning, noon, and night」
He let out a dangerous little chuckle. Twenty a day?! That’s on Ladarion’s level!
「Where to next?」
「Three over there」
After that, we exterminated thirty-six goblins in the span of an hour. It was true search and destroy…
「Let’s call it there for today. We made enough to easily buy a hundred cakes」
The rain jacket was stuffy and hot. We’d been running through the mountains for an hour, so it made for good training.
「All right. A hundred cakes will last me a while」
With Azur Rise, they’d probably be gone in no time.
We returned home, let Azur Rise use the sauna, and I took a shower.
Feeling refreshed, I served Azur Rise a well-chilled Besmi shake after he came out of the sauna.
「Besmi?」
「Yeah. I bought it in the town of Rihar. There’s jam too. Want some?」
After I taught Miriel how to make it, the method spread to Romy, and now the giant housewives buy it in Rihar and make it themselves.
「Yes. I’ll have some」
Miriel brought it over, and I served Azur Rise.
「Sweet. Does it have sugar in it?」
「Yeah. Lots of it. Want to take some home as a souvenir?」
I used to eat it all the time, but after ten days even I got tired of it. Ladarion only eats it in the morning these days.
「I’ll take it」
So I cleared out my entire stock. Please enjoy it.
「By the way, I’m starting a goblin extermination guild. Want to join, Azur Rise? There aren’t really any strict rules. I just want your help when there’s a large outbreak」
At Gold rank, he must be busy with adventurer work, so I can’t force him. Helping out when he has time is more than enough. He’ll probably hunt goblins regularly for the sake of sweets anyway.
「I’ll join. Hunting goblins with you is easy」
Even for a Gold-ranked adventurer, goblin hunting is a hassle, and he said this was the easiest it had ever been.
And so, there are now three goblin exterminators, with twelve contractors in total. I’ll keep increasing the numbers and build an environment where I can survive.
