Eight days have passed since we came to the Rydand County.
Looking back, it’s been an intense stretch. Well, everything has been intense since I got thrown into this world, but still!
「I wish we could just take it easy like this forever」
Doing nothing, lounging in a room at the inn, and slowly drinking is unbelievably good. If my life could end like this, it would be a happy ending.
「I’m bored. I want to exterminate goblins.」
「Me too. When are we going home?」
The beastkin sisters, Bisha and Mebi, were playing some game where you flip black and white pieces. Where did they even learn gambling games? Stop before you two turn it into a sister fight.
「In a fight, waiting and resting matter too. If you’re bored, go play outside」
I decided I’m resting until Dyne finishes getting things ready. No gun maintenance, no loading magazines, no strength training.
「What do you want us to do for fun?」
「Play in the sand?」
「We’re not little kids anymore!」
The beastkin sisters jumped at me. But I’m not some thirty-something who only gets beaten up anymore. Thanks to that useless goddess, my physical ability went up two levels, so I threw the clinging sisters off me.
And then, ten minutes later, I was out of breath and they were sitting on me.
…Haa… Twelve and ten, and I still lose. That’s just pathetic…
「Takato. Dyne’s messenger came. We’re heading back to Koraus in two days」
Getting sat on by the sisters is normal now, so Kainzel-san didn’t comment. If anything, he looked amused.
「Then we should start preparing tomorrow. Is Pioneer One fueled up?」
「Ah. I keep it full at all times」
He buys fuel with his own pay and never skips washing it. At this point, you could say he loves it.
「By the way, has travel between Koraus and Rydand started up again?」
I haven’t been to the Adventurers’ Guild since then.
「Not yet. Word has gotten around that the Roselan were taken down, but there aren’t many merchants who will prove the route is safe with their own bodies. They’ll probably wait for us to head back, then reopen trade」
「They don’t want to pull a losing ticket themselves, huh」
「That’s how it is. Well, Dyne and the Luraize Company pulled the winning ticket」
I don’t know how much they’ll make, but I’d like some of that luck. All I’ve gotten is pay for the work I did, after all.
「In a case like this, should we report to the Adventurers’ Guild?」
「Yeah. I’m not that familiar with how adventurers handle things either, but it’s probably better to at least pay a visit. We might come back to Rydand again」
Yeah. We’ve got contractors like Vice, and there are goblins here. If I end up having to return, I should build some connections now.
「The Adventurers’ Guild in Rydand had a lot of men. Should we bring some booze as a gift?」
This is still a world where bribes work. If that’s the case, I’ll gladly stuff the sleeve.
I don’t feel like moving, but staying here with the beastkin sisters sitting on me might lead to some weird misunderstandings.
When I went back to Home, Pioneer was gone. Huh?
「Ladarion. Where’s Pioneer?」
I asked Ladarion, who was in the entryway sorting loaded magazines.
「Miriel said she wants to learn how to drive」
Miriel? Oh yeah, when we went to buy cloth in the Second Wall District, she kept asking about driving Pioneer. I thought it was just curiosity because cars are rare here.
「Now that her leg is back, she wants to drive?」
Her muscles are still weak, so walking is hard, and she uses the electric wheelchair in the village. But driving an automatic should be fine… maybe?
「If Miriel learns to drive, I’ll have to buy another one」
Ladarion isn’t interested in driving, and I’m not comfortable letting the beastkin sisters do it. Having one more person who can drive would be a big help.
「Then tell her to bring Number Two back to the shed. I’m going to buy a new one」
「Got it」
I bought some cheap wine on the tablet, put on my town gear, and headed outside.
「Kainzel-san, it looks like Miriel has started learning to drive, so I’m thinking of buying another vehicle. Do you have any requests?」
A man in his fifties who subscribes to car magazines even though he can’t read modern writing. Have I committed some kind of terrible sin?
「I want a Yamaha Wolverine!」
He answered immediately.
「A Wolverine?」
If I remember right, it was the Wolverine RMAX 1000? The one I hesitated over along with Honda’s Talon.
「Yeah. If possible, I want the two-seater. Is that a problem?」
「Well, it should be fine. It’s easy to maneuver」
Right now, there are five of us moving together, and we’ve got a trailer that can carry supplies. I’ll buy it as a forward scout vehicle.
He said he only wanted a roof as an option, so we settled on a blue two-seater Wolverine. We headed for the stable where Pioneer One was parked at the inn.
「I’ll go buy it」
I left that behind and returned to Home. I bought the Wolverine and came back.
「Oooh! That’s cool!」
Kainzel-san was bouncing around like a kid. Men really do stay boys even in their fifties.
「The layout is a little different, but the basics are the same. Just learn it as you drive」
He wasn’t listening at all, so I gave him the driver’s seat.
「I’m going to break it in!」
With that, he took off somewhere. Yeah, yeah, take it easy.
「Bisha, Mebi. I’m heading to the Adventurers’ Guild」
「I’m coming too!」
「Me too!」
So the three of us headed for the Adventurers’ Guild.
