Chapter 112.3 – Covered in Mud, Someday, We’ll Get the Crown(1)

「Then, I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you for some quick advice……」

「Go ahead」

「Is there anything you want me to do, as a manager, from the player’s side? I don’t care if it cost a lot of money, I can afford it.」

「Yeah……do you really mean anything?」

She glanced at me with a sideway glance.

When I replied “Of course”, she approached and whispered to me.

「If we win a match, buy us some dinner……or something.」

「Is that all you want? Of course, I don’t mind.」

「How much is the budget? A little expensive restaurant would be better……」

「Of course, If you win the match, I will gladly rent out even the most prestigious restaurant(Grand Maison) in the royal capital for you.」

「Oohhh! That’s very encouraging!」

Then, she said in a cheerful voice, “Everyone! The manager has something good to tell you!”.

「If you win the game, the dinner that night will be on the manager’s tab!」

「Seriously!?」

The dogkin fielder, whose eyes were different from before, opened her mouth wide and asked.

「Of course」

「How about the drinks?」

The sheepkin left fielder, who was so full of joy that her tongue was about to stick out, asked.

「Buy alcohol and use it as a shower.」

「Can I really do that!?」

The pitcher who seemed to be breathing heavily, asked me excitedly.

「Don’t mind my wallet. However……only if you win.」

When I said that, the members shouted “Whoaahhh!” full of fighting spirit.

「Of course, we only need to win!」

「You can’t take that back, manager!」

「I’ll order in order of price!」

Seeing everyone so full of motivation, a complete change from a few minutes ago, I couldn’t help but smile.

The practice time has not increased, and the main players haven’t been fixed.

Even so, I think this is a good start.

One of the things I’ve learned from the theater is that there is nothing better than a strong morale.

I nodded my head in gratitude to Shiida, who’s standing next to me.

The tanned face Shiida smiled and gave me another thumbs up.

「Batterrrr! Game set!」

「Shiiyyaaaaa!!」

「I’m going to drink till I drop!」

In the next match, the great scorpions won in flying colors.

In the first game, they defeated the east city’s shopping street’s Skinhead Boys at 3-0. In the second game, they defeated west city’s shopping street’s Green Caps at 5-1.

Contrary to last week’s heavy losses, this week’s great scorpions were on a roll.

The hard hitter Roast and Mince hit the ball well and the forkball pitcher, rabbitkin Kwan, pitched as if she used magic.

It was a magnificent victory, a victory that we all wanted.

Of course, today’s victory may be a victory that relies on strong players.

There are still many unresolved issues, and I may have not done my job as well as I could have.

However, no matter what the ins and out, everything starts with a win.

So, let’s celebrate today’s victory first, and a big one at that.

「Manager, where are you going to take us today?」

「The store over there.」

After walking for a while from the stadium, we came to the main street of Torquiva. We walked on the edge of the road so that we would not get in the carriages’ way.

「The only tavern on the main street I know of is Bo Tavern, right?」

「No no, there’s a more luxurious one next to it, Kurdoa tavern……」

「Kwan, have you ever been there?」

「Roast-san brought me there before.」

「At that time, I really drank until my wallet was empty.」

While everyone was talking, we finally arrived at the restaurant.

The store, with a pure white scheme and slightly dowdy sign with a carving of a heavenly horse, is a restaurant that I encountered while walking around the city for a meal after arriving.

It took a little time because it was a place where carriage and rickshaws usually come but I’m sure everyone would be satisfied with its delicious country cuisine.

「Here we are. I’ll go in.」

As I was about to walk toward the waiter standing in front of the door, someone grabbed my shoulder.

I turned my head and looked behind to see Shiida who was shaking her head with a troubled look on her face.

「Manager, I know you’re trying to motivate us but……this is a noble’s restaurant. It will be very expensive and even if we have the money, we won’t be able to get in.」

「Is……that……so…….?」

I have never thought about the fact that there were separate stores for commoners and nobles.

After all, the circumstances in the countryside are much more complicated for someone from the royal capital.

What should I do then……I have no idea what stores are for commoners.

Shiida’s big hand pulled my struggling hand.

「Roast-san knows a good tavern, let’s go there.」

「Hmm, then……let’s do that.」

Apparently, I still have a lot to learn both as a manager and as a c.o.m.m.o.n.e.r.

I started walking behind the red haired slugger as Shiida pulled me by the hand.

A shared carriage filled with people of various races, probably on their way home from work, passes us.

From beyond the big crossroad in the center of Torquiva, where the carriage was headed, a scalding hot wind was blowing from the bright red blazing sunset.
