Now that our bellies are full, it’s time to start dungeon farming.
「You’re making a farm here of all places!?」
Martina, who had heard my plan, was surprised enough to look at me as if I was crazy.
「That’s exactly why it’s a good place.」
「W-why is that? Normally, farms are made in wider, brighter places, right?」
「That may be true, but… this place is special. Sunlight shines from above, and the water in the underground lake is special.」
「Special?」
「The water in that underground lake contains small amounts of magic power. It can not only speed up the growth of vegetables, but it also has the added benefit of restoring magic power.」
「H-how is that possible…?」
「In this dungeon, only the area around this underground lake has walls made of magic stones that contain magic power.」
「!?!?!?!?!?!?」
Martina takes a book out of her large backpack. She starts flipping through it and muttering to herself.
「W-what’s wrong?」
「No… such information isn’t in the book… in fact, there’s no information anywhere about this dungeon even having an underground lake!」
「Ah…」
That’s right.
That was knowledge that no one in the game knew about.
It was a secret place that was only revealed to players.
「Ah… I found it by chance while exploring.」
「I see! You never know what you’ll find in a dungeon… I’ll follow your lead and keep exploring until the very end!」
It was a desperate excuse, but it worked surprisingly well on Martina.
… I’ve been thinking this for a while now, but… is Martina the type of person who believes anything?
Anyway, that’s that so let’s get started…
「I think I’ll start around here.」
I stood a short distance from the house and stabbed the Dragon Tree Sword into the ground. Then, as I pour magic into it, roots sprout from the sword and burrow into the ground.
「That’s good… keep going.」
The roots growing from the Dragon Tree Sword loosen the hardened ground and remove any stones in the way. It also increases organic matter, transforming it into fertile soil suitable for open-field cultivation.
「I think that’s about it.」
I’m going to start with vegetables that are easy to grow as an experiment.
In the world of Fantasy Farm Story, there are four seasons. In the game, you start by cultivating vegetables that are easy to grow during that season – in other words, you grow seasonal vegetables. The types of vegetables are based on the same criteria as my previous world. For example, cabbage and asparagus in spring, and tomatoes and eggplant in summer.
By the way, the vegetables are based on the vegetables of my previous world, but the names and appearances are slightly different.
This is because of one of the features of this game: “the special effects you get from eating vegetables”.
For example, the small seed that I just created with the Dragon Tree Sword.
This is a variety called “Flame Tomato”, and eating a certain amount of it will increase the power of fire magic and reduce the amount of magic power consumed.
Another feature is that these magical crops also play a role as materials needed to create magic tools.
I checked, and excluding the divine seeds, there are about five kinds of vegetables that can be grown at this stage, including this Flame Tomato.
First, for the ability-boosting crops, we have:
Flame Tomato
Ice Pumpkin
Thunder Paprika
Those three.
Ice pumpkin is ideal for strengthening ice magic, and thunder paprika is ideal for strengthening lightning magic. As long as they are of good quality, they can be sold to the kingdom’s magic corps.

The remaining two are material crops:
Iron Cosmos
Bubble Gerbera
Those two.
Iron cosmos is used as a material for weapons and armor to increase their strength. As for Bubble Gerbera, it grows quickly and I will try to use it tonight.

All of these are beginner-friendly crops that are easy to grow. This is because they are the seeds the Dragon Tree Sword comes with from the beginning – in other words, they’re tutorial crops.
I can increase the number of crops I can grow by meeting certain conditions, so I want to actively challenge myself to do that in the future.

While I was reconfirming the game system, the Woodmen had worked hard and created the ridges.
As for wild animals… or rather, monsters in this case, destroying my crops…. But I’ll build a fence out of wood to add atmosphere so I don’t have to worry about them.

There’s holy water from the underground lake full of magic power nearby.
And in my hand, I have the Dragon Tree Sword, which has a great influence on the natural world.
That’s all I need.
I can grow vegetables with excellent effects that increase my abilities whenever I want.
For now, let’s try cultivating all the vegetables I can currently plant.

I immediately started sowing the seeds. Then, I was about to carry the sacred water from the underground lake with the Woodmen to water the plants when…
「Please let me help.」
Martina offered to help me.
「Are you sure?」
「Yes. I kind of want to try it too.」
「Are you not going to explore the dungeon?」
「Of course I will, silly.」
Really…?
To be honest, I was starting to forget you were here.
Well, I’d like to have someone to talk to, so I’m more than happy to have her help.
「I appreciate it, Martina.」
「You’re welcome.」
And so, I, Martina, and the Woodmen (x5) divided up the work and watered the field.
By the time the work was finished, Martina exclaimed,
「Oh? Look, the sprouts have already grown!」
in amazement as it had only been a few tens of minutes.
It was much faster than expected.
「If it’s like this, soon this place will be full of vegetables. Starting from tomorrow, maybe we should expand a bit more.」
I can eat the vegetables I planted to strengthen myself and I can sell the raw materials and use the money to buy various things.
Hmmmmm.
Yes, with more options, my motivation in farming increased rapidly.
At this rate, I’m going to cultivate more and more vegetables!
