Chapter 19.12

「What was that technique just now? You, a mere mere, cannot possibly sever my head!」

It was a talisman I had given her for self-defense.

Disposable, yes, but it allows me to instantaneously sever the spatial connection at a targeted location.

Indeed, it can cut through anything except for divine domain-level barriers.

Uka’s hand extended toward her severed head, but Futaba kicked it several meters away.

「You think you can defeat me! The one person I absolutely didn’t want to lose to!」

Despite verbally dismissing Futaba, Uka seemed to harbor some attachment.

What exact emotion it was remained difficult to ascertain.

「As my little sister, I won’t waste words. Not that I’ve ever thought of you as my little sister.」

Futaba alternated her gaze between Uka’s struggling body and her wailing severed head.

Though her expression remained stoic, it was evident she forcibly suppressed her emotions.

「Damn it alllll!」

Uka, who had torn off her own ankle, instantly regenerated.

She picked up her severed head and reattached it to her torso, then charged at Futaba with all her might.

Her fists, capable of shattering mountains, still couldn’t reach Futaba.

Uka’s gauntlets, fists, and even her elbows were pulverized by her own strength.

「Absurd… Even this single strike won’t work?」

「I create a normal space within the divine domain. I’m not adept at combat, but I need to keep up with oniichan somehow.」

The divine domain severs all connections between the original world and the boundary within the barrier.

However, by allowing only a portion of the barrier to exist in normal space, it creates an area where interference within the barrier is impossible.

The effect is akin to an impenetrable barrier.

While I cannot yet create complex shapes or deploy it in multiple locations, it remains a powerful technique that I can’t mimic.

Against direct assault specialists like Uka, it exhibits unparalleled strength.

「Can a mere human possess such advanced technique? No, it’s impossible for a human—ugh!」

This time, Uka’s head was fixed in mid-air.

「Oniichan, please end her suffering.」

「Is it over?」

「Yes.」

Futaba’s feelings during this battle, what she accepted or couldn’t accept, remain unknown.

But if this allows her to continue her life without hesitation, then nothing more is needed.

「St-stop… I still fight for Himiko-sama—」

I severed Uka’s head and incinerated her body.

As Futaba dispelled the divine domain, she squinted at the setting sun.

The snow had ceased without her noticing.

Her eyes sparkled.

「What is a ‘Variant’, I wonder…」

I hold no answer to Futaba’s question.

Yet an unsettling premonition lingered.

Something big was about to unfold—at least that’s how I feel.
