We returned to the Treehouse to prepare for our search for Claudia-san.
「Alright. This should be enough.」
Since this wasn’t going to be a long trip, we packed light. The distance was considerable, so this time, we’d be relying on Simone (in dragon form) for support.
「Now, let’s grab some food just in case…」
「The weapons supply is a bit lacking. I know your fighting styles well, but we should definitely restock.」
「You’re right—wait, Lawrence-san!?」
Lawrence-san had quietly blended in with the group. We had just parted ways with him at the estate, so what was he doing here?
「Ano, why is Lawrence-san here at the Treehouse?」
「What? You don’t want me here?」
「It’s not that I don’t want you here, it’s just… strange.」
「Relax. In case of an emergency, I’ll be in charge.」
This isn’t working.
Our conversation wasn’t going anywhere.
But then, as expected, Charlotte, the translator for her brother, stepped in.
「Onii-sama, enough already. If you’re here, you should at least explain yourself properly. I need a good reason for your presence.」
「Ugh, Charlotte…」
It was clear that Lawrence-san couldn’t avoid answering his little sister’s direct request. With a resigned sigh, he started to explain the situation—though it turned out to be just as we had guessed.
To sum it up, Lawrence-san wanted to bring Claudia-san back, but he had no idea where she was, and he had no leads. When he overheard part of what I had mentioned earlier, he decided to come to the Dungeon Farm to join us.
「I want to accompany you.」
「Alright, that’s fine.」
「See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?」
We had no reason to turn him down, and honestly, it was reassuring to have him with us.
That said, there was one more thing I was curious about.
「By the way, Lawrence-san…」
「What is it?」
「What about your duties with the knight’s order?」
「Don’t worry about it. I’ve already taken time off. I haven’t taken a break in about five years, so the captain was a little surprised, but it’s all sorted.」
「Oh, I see.」
Lawrence-san… is he like the old me, a workaholic?
No, I suppose the knights aren’t exactly the same as regular jobs—are they?
In any case, with all the preparations made, we were finally ready to get serious about our search for Claudia-san.
