I was out of breath in less than ten minutes and ended up dropping both hands to the ground.
Damn it. I could keep hitting a sandbag for twenty minutes, yet I could not last ten with a sword. The movement needed for swordplay was insane.
「…O one more time, please!」
I caught my breath and tried again, but once more I did not last ten minutes. My striking time got shorter and my breaks grew longer.
「…I-I am sorry. I am pathetic…」
We had probably not even trained for an hour when I already gave out.
「Yeah. I will bring water」
I lay on my back with my arms spread wide and struggled to control my breathing.
「Water」
I managed to sit up and drank the water Kainzel-san brought.
「Please train me again」
After thirty minutes my breath finally recovered, though my arms felt heavy. They say the real fight begins when you get tired. Do your best, me.
I had no strength, but I could still swing. I stepped toward Kainzel-san and struck again.
「That is enough. We stop for today」
He caught my wooden sword, swept my legs, and sent me crashing to the ground.
My lungs hurt. I had not breathed this hard since that time I was dragged on a mountain hike.
「The sword really is difficult」
I finally recovered my breath and poured water over my head.
「Yes. But you moved well. That is proof you train every day」
I did not feel like I had moved well enough to show any results.
「Shall we have lunch?」
Barely managing to stand, I headed home.
The shed I asked for was already finished, and Ladarion was sweeping around it.
「Ladarion! Lunch!」
「Okay」
She leaned the broom against a tree and went back inside.
「It’s only a short time and they already built this. Giants are impressive」
「Yeah. Are you planning to buy a carriage?」
「No. A different vehicle. After the break ends we will clear the goblins hiding in the fields」
If I walked through that enormous wheat field, autumn would end before I finished. Using a vehicle was a necessity.
I dragged myself up the stairs and returned to the Sefuti Home.
Since I was drenched in sweat, I needed a shower first. I slung a bath towel over my shoulder, left in my underwear, and bought lunch.
I went back to the unit bath, dried my body and hair, tossed my dirty clothes into the washing machine, and started it.
「Haa. I wish someone could handle all the chores for me」
I brought a C-set meal and wine outside and handed them to Kainzel-san.
「If there is anything that does not suit your taste, leave it」
「I am fine. I am not picky. Though with dishes I have never seen, I cannot even tell what I like or not. If I can eat it, I will eat it」
He started on the Japanese factory lunch and finished it in no time. He was surprisingly a big eater.
Since he could go for more, I brought two B-set meals and decided to eat as well.
「Could you train me again this evening?」
「Of course. That is why you hired me」
「Thank you. Please take it easy until then. I have to watch Marg in the afternoon」
I took the empty dishes back to the Sefuti Home. After worrying more than planned, I used a seventy percent off sticker and bought a massage chair that cost five hundred thousand yen.
「Sorry for using the first seventy percent off sticker on the massage chair」
「Who are you apologizing to?」
「To myself for losing to temptation」
It was an expensive massage chair, and I could tell how well it loosened my muscles. It was worth every coin.
After about an hour of being kneaded, my fatigue faded. Though, of course, it did not heal the muscle fibers I had torn through reckless training. That was where the recovery potion I won from the gacha came in. The useless goddess had said it worked on muscle pain too.
Some people might say it was wasteful to use a valuable recovery potion on muscle pain. But with no idea what might happen from now on, strengthening my body could only be a good thing.
If my body can be rebuilt in such a short time then a few recovery pills are nothing to worry about. I at least want to be strong enough to spar with Kainzel-san.
I swallowed one recovery pill and the sluggish feeling faded as my stamina returned.
「…This is amazing…」
I would like to lie down and turn this into a day of rest, but I have to check on Marg or I lose my standing as his teacher. If I am going to stay here I need to get along with the neighbors.
I bought some gifts for the ladies, had Ladarion carry them out, then bought shelves and tools for the cabin before stepping outside.
「Kainzel-san. I am sorry, but there are goblins nearby so could you get rid of them? It will also let you practice with this」
I handed him the KSG shotgun.
「Is this also a gun?」
「Yes. It fires rounds that scatter a large number of iron pellets. Its range is short but it is useful when something is hiding in tall grass or when enemies are grouped together」
We went outside so I could teach him how to use it, and he tried a few test shots.
「I will put these rounds in a locked box inside the cabin. Remember it for emergencies」
I took a gun safe from the Sefuti Home and placed inside the shotgun rounds I had first given to Ladarion, a Glock 17, four magazines, one hundred rounds, five grenades and a few silver coins. I also added water and canned food.
「And hide it somewhere only you will notice, Kainzel-san」
I handed Kainzel-san the small lockbox.
「I put gold coins and copper coins inside. If anything happens to me use them」
It is like a retirement bonus. I cannot give it to him if I die so he gets it early.
「…Understood」
He looked like he wanted to say something but swallowed the words and accepted it. I hope I can grow old the same way.
「Master!」
Marg and the ladies arrived so I asked him again to deal with the goblins and headed over to Marg and the others.
