In the morning, I woke up to Ladarion shaking me. Hafue?
「Takato, it’s morning.」
I looked at the clock and saw it was past eight. Ah… I overslept.
I slowly pushed myself up and stretched wide. My whole body hurt, but it was just mild muscle soreness, so I only put on a few patches.
「Ladarion, what about breakfast?」
「I ate the leftovers from yesterday, but I want something warm. Also, fruit sandwiches.」
Fruit sandwiches are cold though… I thought that, but grabbed the tablet anyway and bought her three bowls of light soy sauce ramen with seared extra-portion chashu.
I wasn’t in the mood for morning ramen, so I had clam chowder with garlic bread and some yogurt.
After we ate, I bought various kinds of fruit sandwiches, then checked the fridge and added cream puffs, jar puddings and cakes.
「Takato. The snacks outside were running out too.」
「Those housewives come here often. Do they not have work?」
I vaguely remembered them saying they worked in the fields, but since I moved in, haven’t they been here every day?
「They said there isn’t much work in summer.」
Huh. So, there’s a season like that. In a world that feels like the Middle Ages, I figured they’d work every day.
「Then summer is like leisure time for the housewives.」
I’d like to enjoy some leisure time myself once in a while.
I picked out snacks that would keep well and carried them to the entrance. I left putting them out to Ladarion. Oh, right. She should bring out the bicycle too.
I strapped on the small belt I wore when going outside and stepped out of the Sefuti Home. As expected, Romy and the housewives were already there.
「Good morning.」
「Takato, hurry up and get out here. We were waiting, you know.」
Hm? Why the rush?
「It’s the goblin cleanup! Since you two killed so many, all the men were called out to help.」
Ah… yeah. If you need cleanup, you’d definitely call the giants.
「Sorry about that. Should I send over something cold as an apology?」
Summer refreshments… G○rigari-kun? Papic○? I’m an Azuki B○r guy myself.
「Oh, and thanks for Kainzel-san’s house. I’ll put out some ice treats, so help yourselves.」
I went back inside the Sefuti Home and bought a M○kita rechargeable cooling/heating box, a charger and eight batteries. I put the ice cream inside and had Ladarion bring it out.
I headed for Kainzel-san’s place and found Marg swinging a stick around. What’s going on?
「Ah, teacher! Good morning!」
「Yeah, morning. Have you recovered? Don’t push yourself.」
It was not something I should say after pushing a six-year-old that hard, but you do not get stronger by overdoing it. Rest when you can.
「Yeah! I am fine! I will work hard to build more stamina!」
He is fired up for a six-year-old. In a shounen manga he would be the protagonist.
「Kainzel-san, are you here?」
I told Marg to keep it up, then stepped inside Kainzel-san’s house. Only the MINIMI was on the bed.
「Grandpa went to cut trees. He said he was making a fence.」
That was the answer when I asked Marg. He worked that much yesterday but he is still full of energy.
I headed for the shed and then returned to the Sefuti Home from the spot where I planned to park.
I grabbed the tablet I left by the entrance and bought the four-wheel buggy I had selected before, the Honda Pioneer 1000-5.
It was an ATV or UTV built for off-road travel. You rarely saw them in Japan, but in America they were used by the military, on farms and for leisure.
I had ridden a different four-wheel buggy at the beach when I was around twenty. I always wanted to drive a 1000cc-class four-wheel buggy one day.
Many companies made them. The big ones like Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki all had great models.
I managed to narrow it down to Honda, but there were the Pioneer and the Talon. In my own interpretation, the Pioneer was more of a transport type and the Talon was a rough-terrain type.
If it were only me and Ladarion, I would have chosen the two-seater Talon. But with three people, plus luggage, I needed a four or five-seater. After going back and forth, I decided on the Pioneer 1000-5. I would buy a Talon too if I earned more later.
But the Pioneer 1000-5. After adding options, it came to about two million yen.
It was expensive, but the original price was already twenty or thirty percent lower, and I had the seventy-percent-off seal. Two million two hundred thousand yen became about six hundred thousand.
It was still expensive, but traveling by wagon took work, and it was worth it to protect my backside.
Riding something like this would cause a commotion, but I was already using guns. If someone said they wanted one, I would tell them to hunt a thousand goblins.
I got into the Pioneer, started the engine and drove it to the dust chute.
「This is my equipment. A tool necessary for goblin extermination.」
I said it out loud, more to convince myself, or the useless goddess, and stepped outside.
「──Yes, yes! Success!」
It appeared at the shed’s parking spot and I pumped my fist without thinking. Now I could travel over a wide area.
