The rain entered its fifth day.
The downpour lasted only the first two days. After that, as long as I used an umbrella it was not difficult to move around and I could even bring potatoes and barley shochu to Gorg.
After finishing his morning training today, Kainzel-san headed out to the town of Rihar.
A woman? I did think that, but it was not my place to pry into his private life, so I filled his tank and saw him off.
While I was installing shelves in the shed, an unfamiliar box wagon approached.
「Coming here in this rain, what for?」
No, for someone who lives here this rain happens every year. Unlike me, they do not cancel plans because of rain.
Still, this is another world where laws barely exist. One careless moment and it is the end. I am not ready to die yet, so I need to stay alert.
I fastened the machete to my belt, pulled the Glock 19 from the holster to check if it was loaded and holstered it again.
「Who might you be?」
I walked up to the wagon with my umbrella. If something happened, I pictured using the umbrella as a shield, retreating into the Sefuti Home and then going back outside to subdue them once they lowered their guard.
Sitting on the box wagon was a young guy. He did not look like an adventurer and his sword was hanging from the hook beside the driver’s seat. A merchant?
「My name is Dyne. I make my living as a peddler. Are you Takato the Goblin Killer」
He climbed down from the driver’s seat and said that.
What? Is that uncool nickname really spreading? Should I file an objection with the Adventurers Guild?
「Yes. I am Takato, and I make my living exterminating goblins」
It was probably pointless but I corrected him. I have my pride.
「So, what business do you have with me」
「Yes. The Guildmaster sent me. He asked me to buy something called milk tea from you. He said he cannot work without it and even paid a high commission fee」
How addicted is that man? There is nothing strange in it. Or maybe there is something in it that affects people of this world?
「Fine. Understood. Please move your wagon over to that house」
If he knows about milk tea and knows the Guildmaster then he is probably not an enemy.
I had him move the box wagon over to my place and entered through the human-sized door installed beside the giant door.
「How much do you need?」
「He said he drinks two of these a day, so he wants fifteen days’ worth」
Wait, two one-point-five-liter bottles a day is too much. That man is definitely getting diabetes.
「Understood. Please wait there for a moment」
I used the ladder to climb up to my room and returned to the Sefuti Home.
At the entrance, Miriel was taking bullets out of their boxes and transferring them into cases.
「Where is Ladarion?」
「She went to the village on an errand」
「An errand?」
Did we have anything that needed an errand?
「She brought a portable battery」
Ah, the portable battery. With this rain the solar charger probably cannot store enough power. Gorg has started using power tools now.
「Then Miriel, you will do. Sorry, but help me carry the milk tea. The Guildmaster sent someone to buy it」
The electric wheelchair has a basket so it can hold nearly twenty five-hundred-milliliter bottles, and a box can also be placed on the footrest.
「It should be fine, but take the Glock just in case」
Since she was in a wheelchair, she could not wear a belt holster, so I equipped her with a shoulder holster.
「If anything happens, do not hesitate」
If someone tries to kill me, I am smart enough to shoot without hesitation.
「Understood!」
This girl really is strong. I need to learn from her.
I had her load the five-hundred-milliliter milk tea bottles at the entrance and take the first batch to Dyne.
I bought a box of five-hundred-milliliter ones using the tablet in the central room.
I carried the box outside. Yeah. I regretted immediately that I should have entered the Sefuti Home from the lower entrance before climbing the ladder.
「For now, this is all we have, so please tell him that」
If they cannot control things on their side then I will control them on mine. The man is needed in the Margrave Koraus Territory after all.
「How much will it be」
「Fifty copper coins」
I forgot how much I sold them for before, but I should sell them at one copper coin per bottle.
I accepted five large copper coins from Dyne. Wait, was it ten copper coins for one large copper coin? Well, whatever. These were markdown items near their expiration date and the whole box cost only a thousand yen.
「Um, are those bottles over there alcohol?」
When I put the coins in my pocket, Dyne pointed at the liquor on the giant shelf.
「Yes, they are」
Though they were all cheap drinks.
「Would you be willing to sell some of those to me」
「If you want them, I do not mind, but did the Guildmaster tell you about me」
「Yes. He said everything you own has a disappearance spell placed on it」
I figured he trusted me since he sent someone to buy milk tea, but it seems this man was trusted more than I expected.
「That is right. Anything I own will disappear fifteen days after it leaves my possession. Even knowing that, you still want to buy them」
「Yes. I do not mind」
「Also, will it be a problem if someone like me who is not a merchant sells alcohol? In some places alcohol is taxed」
「The Margrave Koraus Territory is a major producer of grapes and grain. Many people have been making their own alcohol since long ago. Private sales are common, so there is no issue. Of course, if the quantity is large enough to affect the market they might interfere」
「So small amounts are fine?」
「Yes. And my sales routes are not that large. I only sell to a few clients who favor my goods」
I could not tell how much of that was true, but if the Guildmaster chose him then he was probably not a bad person. Considering the future, having connections with a merchant might be useful.
「Understood. I will sell you a few」
Dyne likely did not expect to earn my full trust right away, so building a slow relationship should be fine.
Since I did not know what would be popular at his end, I sold him two bottles each of whiskey, sweet potato shochu, sake, and wine.
