This was the umpteenth dungeon meeting between Nana-san and me.
After a heated discussion, we finally decided on the field attribute for the 4-1 area.
「Then, for 4-1, let us go with a river field」
「Let’s do that」
The 4-1 area was decided to be a river field.
To be honest, I felt a strong pull toward Mount Takao, but this time we would go with a river field.
The Mount Takao field could wait until next time.
「Now then, let us decide the other settings as well. How large should the overall field be?」
「Hmm. Well, five kilometers should be fine, right?」
That was the case for 2-1 and 3-1, so five kilometers should be fine.
「Understood. Then 4-1 will also be a circular field with a diameter of five kilometers」
「Yeah. As long as we place the entrance and exit in the center of the field, the distance does not really matter」
「Then we will install the doors in the center of the field again. About fifty meters apart should be fine, correct?」
「Yeah」
When the 2-1 forest field was first created, the entrance and exit were at the edges of the field.
The door leading to 1-4 was placed at one edge of the field, and the door leading to 2-2 was placed at the opposite edge.
That meant there were five kilometers from one door to the other.
Even though I am a devoted forest field lover, walking that distance every time was too much of a hassle. I could not be bothered.
So, I adjusted the menu and moved both doors to the center of the field.
The 3-1 plains field is the same, with both doors placed in the center of the field about fifty meters apart.
Thanks to that, moving around during dungeon marathons is nice and easy.
「Five kilometers is a long distance」
「It really is」
「It is especially long for you, Master」
That way of saying it kind of bothers me, though.
「Next are the paths. We need to make proper paths」
「Ah, right. Should we draw roads radiating out from the center again?」
「Let us do that. Paths are important」
There was a reason Nana-san stressed the importance of paths this much.
When Nana-san was exploring the 2-1 forest field alone in the past, she apparently got lost by accident.
「I will never forget the fear I felt back then. To prevent any more victims besides myself, paths are necessary」
「Yeah. If it is a forest it might be manageable, but in other fields even we might get lost」
We elves come with built-in abilities for walking through forests, so getting lost in a forest is impossible for us. There was no elf who would lose their way in a forest field.
But Nana-san was different. She was the only one in the village who was not an elf, and she did not have the ability to walk through forests. As a result, she got lost in the vast forest.
「Back then, I ended up crying a little without thinking」
「Yeah, that would be scary……」
Getting lost in a massive forest field with a diameter of five kilometers would definitely be terrifying. It would feel like you could never get out.
For the record, Nana-san wandered around for a while. According to her, she wandered while crying. After that, she asked me for help through the dungeon menu.
She used that message system where you change the dungeon name to send a chat. The so-called Dungeon Menu Message Communication.
The dungeon name at that time was 『NanaInTroubleLostInForestImSorryLooksLikeImOkayDungeon』.
It is a hard-to-understand message because there are no punctuation marks, but she probably meant 『Nana is in trouble. Lost in the forest. Ah, sorry. It looks like I will be okay』.
Apparently, while she was opening the dungeon menu and typing the message, she realized she should look at the map function in the menu.
By checking the map displayed in the menu and confirming her own position on it while moving through the forest, she managed to get out safely.
「Then, the 4-1 area will be a circular field with a diameter of five kilometers. We will place the doors in the center and draw roads radiating outward」
「Yeah」
「And we will run many rivers of various sizes」
「Yeah, yeah」
「We will also create multiple lakes」
「Sounds good」
Alright, the structure of the 4-1 area was starting to come together nicely.
But if there are lots of roads and rivers, does that mean we need to build lots of bridges too?
And what about the lakes? What should we do where the roads overlap with the lakes?
「Lakes…… should we just line the field with pools instead?」
「Hm? Pools?」
Pools, huh?
No, I am not sure about that. That feels a bit off somehow.
「Making it into such an artificial leisure facility feels a little wrong……」
「I do not really understand that concern. In the end, we are aiming for a field that feels like a leisure facility anyway, right?」
「That might be true, but I still want it to feel like a natural field」
「A natural feeling……」
I want to keep the appearance of a dungeon. I do not want to break the pretense that it is a natural area inside a dungeon.
「But I think pool-like facilities are fine. I want to make lots of things that feel like a leisure pool」
「What do you mean by that?」
「I definitely want to make a lazy river. Let us make a lake where the water flows in a circle」
「A lake where the water flows in a circle……」
Ah, that sounds nice.
Even I think that is a good idea. I want to float along slowly on a swim ring.
「Oh, and water accidents scare me. So let us make all lakes and rivers shallow enough that you can stand」
「All of them shallow enough to stand……」
After all, this dungeon sells itself on safety and peace of mind. I want to be careful about that.
「A lake where the water flows in a circle, and you can stand in it」
「Yeah」
「That is no longer natural, is it?」
「…………」
…Well, no matter how you think about it, that does not exist in nature.
「Um…… if we make the bottom soil and let fish swim around, I think it will feel fairly natural」
「Well, I do not really mind either way……」
Balancing nature and pools is hard……
I also want to make showers and changing rooms, but how am I supposed to make that work……?
「Well, nature aside, I want to make sure the safety measures are solid」
「Of course, but do you not think you are being a bit too careful? Everyone here is strong no matter what. Safety standards based on your previous life might be excessive」
「I guess that is true」
Still, I really do not want any accidents to happen in this dungeon……
Most of the people who come here are acquaintances, after all.
「Hmm…… for now, I am thinking of having the rescue golems act as lifeguards」
「Lifeguards meaning…… those people who watch the pool from a high platform?」
「Yeah. I want them to watch the pool from a high platform, and jump in if something happens」
「That sounds like a small meteor」
A meteor……
Well, yeah, that might actually be dangerous. Maybe we should not have them jump in.
Also, placing rescue golems at every lake is probably not realistic.
For now, let us make a decent number of them and have them walk around as usual.
Then I will give them abilities to detect people who are drowning. And swimming ability too, I guess. Amphibious, then. I will design amphibious rescue golems.
How much will that cost……?
It is definitely going to be expensive…….
