In the end, I ended up staying the night.
I was guided by what might have been a maid or an attendant to a guest room, or rather, a suite-like room.
I have never stayed in a suite, so I cannot compare, but for this era, it was undoubtedly a very luxurious room.
「Takato-sama. If you need anything, please ring the bell」
「Yes. Thank you very much」
The maid or attendant withdrew, and I sat down on the bed and looked around the room.
It seemed to be meant for two people, with a king-size bed. The furniture had an antique feel, and there was wallpaper on the walls. Just looking at this place, it felt like staying in an old European castle.
There were three rooms in total, and one of them was a washroom of sorts, with a ceramic tub filled with hot water.
「They really thought of everything」
Since it had been prepared for me, I decided to use it and quickly washed myself.
「The door opens outward. That means I cannot use a doorstop」
Also, I wonder what principle that chandelier on the ceiling uses to emit light. If it is magic, that is impressive.
I stuffed a pillow into the bed, placed my shoes to the side, and then returned to Home.
「Takato-san」
When I appeared in the entrance, I saw Miriel sitting in her electric wheelchair. Had she been waiting the whole time?
「I am not exactly home, but I am back. Are Ladarion and the others safe?」
「Yes. They are safe. They are eating right now」
When I headed to the central room, they were eating the buffet we bought in the morning.
「Good work. Looks like you exterminated a lot」
「Yeah. A lot of them gathered, and we could not come down from the mountains, so we had to camp」
「I am sorry I was not there when it mattered. Do you have enough ammunition?」
「We are fine. But Bisha and Mebi have not been able to shine. We are using Minimi, so we cannot let them go to the front」
When I checked the rewards, they had increased by about one million yen compared to yesterday. Maybe I should buy around ten more boxes of MINIMI ammo.
「Then let the two of them use P90s」
I have three P90s, and given their builds, they should be able to handle them. I grabbed the tablet and looked for gear that would suit the two of them.
「Takato-san. Did you meet the acting lord?」
While I was picking and choosing, Miriel brought me some coffee and asked that.
「Yeah. She was a bold woman who really likes her drink」

「Ah, figures. She was bold and had a brave way of speaking, so I thought that might be the case」
Her attire was not a dress, but something more like a knight’s outfit. I wonder what kind of romance she had with the guild master. I am curious.

「Nothing in particular. The acting lord was drinking the whole time」
But I do not really think that was all. That was probably to observe me.
I was mostly talking with the guild master the entire time, but the atmosphere felt like some kind of interview. The acting lord was surely judging what kind of person I am.
「…Seriously, they are scary people…」
I bought gear for Bisha and Mebi, left Ladarion in charge of teaching them how to put it on and how to use the P90s, resupplied ammunition, and restocked the refrigerator. By the time I was done, it was past ten at night.
「You should get some rest too, Miriel」
The room is probably being watched. A honey trap where a maid or attendant sneaks into the room might even be possible. Not that I want that. Sleeping with a woman I do not know is terrifying, right? You have no idea what kind of disease she might have. Dying from an illness before a goblin kills me would be the worst.
…Well, I could probably cure it with a recovery potion, but I am confident I would die if I got looks of contempt from those two…
Fully armed, I moved to the entrance and looked outside, but there was no noticeable change. It seems no honey trap has been set.
I stepped out into the corridor and strained my ears, but there were no sounds coming from the other rooms.
「Wait, is this light just left on all the time?」
Or do the nobles here have a habit of sleeping with the room brightly lit? Is there an on and off switch? A spell? What is it?
As I sat on the bed, puzzling over it, an explosion sounded outside. Wh-what!?
I rushed to the window and pulled the curtain aside, only to find wooden shutters. So, it is not even a glass window!?

Some kind of beast roar echoed from outside. What in the world is happening!?
The shutters looked thin enough to be broken through, but I did not want to damage them carelessly and get complaints later, so I left the room through the door and went into the corridor.
Maids or attendants were in an uproar, and it seemed they did not understand what was happening either.
「Calm down! Confirm the situation! Guards, protect the acting lord!」
Shouting that, I headed toward the dining hall where we had eaten a few hours earlier.
「Takato!」
「Guild Master! What happened!?」
「I do not know yet. But it seems we are under attack. We are confirming the situation now」
An attack on the castle? Is whoever did this out of their mind? And that beast roar means it is a monster attack? This other world is seriously terrifying!

Huh? The Demon King’s Army? Why!? There were no signs of that!
「Call in the off duty soldiers! Maids, evacuate to the underground! Takato, sorry, but I need your help!」
He did not tell me to evacuate with the maids. I was kind of hoping for that.
「Understood. Can I have my weapons returned?」
Right now, I only had a Glock 19 and a flashbang on me.
「Very well. Roy, guide Takato」
「Understood. Takato-dono, this way please」
Guided by an armed man, I headed toward where my equipment had been kept.
