Chapter 104.1 – Don’t Make a Sudden Visit to My House (1)

By the time Princess Kariya arrived in a carriage pulled by an eight legged bicorn just before noon, the pilot’s seat of the clocktower class magic construct was already filled with nobles.

It’s truly the gathering of all, including the Snore family, the lord of Torquiva. Active, retired, upper rank, lower rank.

As expected, there were too many of them so we asked all the children and wives except for the head of the family to leave but I was already fed up dealing with nobles with Professor Marino since morning.

There was a queue at the temporary toilets and the food and coffee stalls will be out of supply soon.

I asked Chicken to bring in more and more food stalls and the construction site quickly became like a food stall village.

Most of them were people I knew from baseball or school but please, don’t just show up and order me around!

If I’m not here, no one would be able to handle this kind of thing!

If you want to greet the princess, please invite her to a salon somewhere…..

「Maa, that’s bleak」

The princess, who got off the carriage with brother in law and Laura-san, looked around and said so.

The nobles who were waiting for her to come out tried to crowd her but the uniformed soldiers who were waiting around the carriage stopped them.

「Good afternoon everyone. I’m happy that you welcomed Alex and I.」

The princess smiled at the nobles who had been waiting for her all morning, “But” she continued.

「I must apologize but I’m here on business. I hope you’ll allow me to talk to you some other time.」

She probably experience this kind of thing every time she goes to the countryside.

After that very used to greeting of her, she turned her head around to look for something.

「Brother in law-kun, where are you?」

「Ah, yes.」

It was me.

I rolled my back and stepped forward with my hands in a rubbing gesture, exposed to the piercing stares of those around me.

「Is everything ready?」

「You can make it move right away.」

「Then, I guess I’ll touch it a little.」

The princess clapped her hands with a royal smile and the soldiers guarding her deftly moved the nobles out of the way to make way for the pilot’s seat.

「I! I! I will show you the way!」

Professor Marino, tense to the bone, leads the way with his right hand and right foot moving at the same time while the princess in her riding clothes clacks her boots as she moves forward the crowd.

The students, who had worked all night to clear the road, must have felt rewarded.

We are on a small hill looking over the hole that was about to be dug to become part of the construction dock for the super behemoth beast type magic construct.

On the pilot’s seat, which resembles a hut built there, is a chair borrowed from the disproportionately luxurious school principal’s room.

The princess, sitting in the chair, was listening to Professor Marino’s nervous explanation with a dissatisfied look on her face.

「So…..that…..this control stick allows intuitive control but for safety reasons…..no, of course, there is nothing wrong with the mechanism….but well….you know……human error……」

「Brother in law-kun」

「Ah, yes!」

「I’d like to try making it move now.」

「Affirmative」

I replied to the princess with a salute as I put my hand at the pale faced professor’s shoulder and pulled him a little distance away.

I can no longer watch it.

「Professor, I will explain it from here so please get it ready……」

「My bad, please……no, I was so nervous……」

The professor, who walked away unsteadily, took a deep, deep breath and turned the microphone for the magic construct communication system.

「……perimeter safety, report?」

『Unit 1 perimeter, no danger.』

「All clear, good! Activation, report?」

『Magic crystal, inspected, all normal. Water has been sprayed to prevent dust.』

「All clear, good! Sawadi-kun, you can start!」

「Then, princess, please move this lever to the back……」

「ara, just call me sister in law-san.」

「I’m at work……」

「You’re pretty hard headed for a guy who makes stuff like this.」
