Chapter 45 – The Rockfield

I continued on my path toward the Riesberg Theocracy.

Before long, I arrived at a checkpoint on the Ceruleon Empire’s border.

——The memory of the knights’ attack resurfaced.

The Ludral Kingdom had gone so far as to investigate me in foreign lands.

If that were the case, there might be guards at the checkpoint keeping an eye out for me.

(That would be a hassle… Should I avoid the checkpoint? …No.)

I had no intention of running.

If they wanted to come for me, they were welcome to try.

I would slaughter them all.

With that mindset, I approached the checkpoint.

In the end…

I was stopped at the checkpoint’s inspection.

But it wasn’t because I was the “Hero Slayer”.

「You should turn back.」

A guard warned me.

Then he explained the reason:

「Beyond this point is dragon territory. If you’re looking to die, I won’t stop you.」

A dragon.

Hearing that word, I recalled something.

Yes, this path did lead to the Riesberg Theocracy…

But along the way, there was a plain known as the Fiorito Rockfield.

And that plain was ruled by—a blade dragon.

A type of Flying Dragon with overwhelming combat prowess.

In the game, it wasn’t a story boss, but many players challenged it because it dropped materials for crafting blade dragon gear.

「I’m not looking to die.」

I told the guard.

「I’m simply heading for the Riesberg Theocracy. So let me through.」

「If you want to go there, take the northern detour. It’s longer, but safer.」

The guard suggested.

But I rejected the idea outright.

「I have no intention of wasting time.」

Be it a dragon or a Demon King, if it stood in my way—I’d kill it.

The guard simply shrugged.

「Is that so? Well, if you really want to go, do as you please. Just remember, I did warn you.」

With that, I was permitted to pass.

I strode through the checkpoint, leaving the Ceruleon Empire behind.

Beyond the empire’s border lay an expansive plain.

——The Fiorito Rockfield.

True to its name, it was a vast field littered with rocks.

In fact, most of the landscape was occupied by stone.

The rocks were white and gray, coming in various sizes.

There were towering cliffs, massive rock piles, and even sheer stone walls.

Amid this monochrome wilderness, patches of green grass added a touch of color.

The ground was covered in lush grass, interspersed with bushes and thickets.

Even on the rocks themselves, grass and flowers grew in clusters, thriving as they pleased.

Scattered throughout the landscape, trees stood tall, their vibrant green leaves swaying in the wind.

(Just looking at the scenery, it feels almost idyllic.)

I thought, genuinely impressed.

But this land was neither peaceful nor idyllic.

For it was the territory of a living legend—

The blade dragon.

Even the bravest adventurers avoided this place.

And those foolish enough to challenge the blade dragon…

Would end up as corpses.

But—

「That has nothing to do with me.」

I muttered, walking through the trackless plains.

If I didn’t encounter the blade dragon, then all was well.

But if I did, and it tried to attack me—

I’d simply feed it to my Psychokinesis.
